Q: What’s the best way to find a potential mate?
A: Tell everyone you know that you’re looking. It’s important to identify who you are looking for in a general sense—before you even ask your friends, make a wish list about what you want in a mate and what you don’t want.
Q: People seem to dread singles’ events. Do have ideas for other ways to meet people?
A: Get out and do activities that you really love. Whether you meet someone or not, you will have had a great time, and you have a chance to meet someone who you have something in common with.
Q: What do you think about online dating?
A: Online dating services have become the norm and do not carry the same stigma they had a decade ago. Anecdotally, I have had patients and close friends who found love on dating sites—they are now happily married.
Q: What if you feel resistant or uncomfortable to date online?
A: Get together with a friend who has posted online, have wine together, have fun together, and even write your profile with your friend.
Q: What are some strategies to practice if you haven’t had luck meeting the right person?
A: You have to make a commitment to this process. Do not give up! There are millions of people on this planet and you’re only looking for one.
